Superman Halloween Costumes
This Halloween get dressed up as the most powerful indestructible “man of steel” Superman. Fight crime and save a damsel in distress in this dashing blue and red out fit.
As of today, Superman is the oldest known popular comic and movie superhero. No other superhero has stood the test of time as Superman.
The man of steel was created in 1030′s by two men, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. As of today Superman is currently 71 years old. Originally created to be a villain, but in 1934 they switched his roles and he went from villain to super hero. It was also at this time his costume design, the blue outfit with red boots, the big “S” on the chest and the red cape, was created.
Through out the years this costume has been a favorite for all ages. The character history spans multiple generations so much so that even great grandparents can relate to young children who are familiar with the character. It is this longevity that keeps this character one of the favorites because parents are already familiar with the who he is and what he stands for.
The costume, like its character, hasn’t really changed over the years.
Although there have been slight modifications such as the size of the S on his chest, the shade of blue, etc. If your a good seamstress the costume can actually be be easily made. And if your not, there’s no need to worry because it can also be easily rented, or purchased in a department store. If you’re a real hardcore fan of Superman, you can even find vintage Superman costumes in stores or on the internet.
But the Superman character really isn’t complete without Clark Kent? To really have fun as Superman, get dressed up as Clark Kent also. You can pretend there is someone in need of Superman’s help and therefore you run into a telephone booth and come back out as Superman. This day and age is hard to find a telephone booth but a utility closet or restroom stall will do. This change in character can bring added fun to an evening at a costume party.
